Old Rock Day

Hello everybody!

Today January 7th it's "Old Rock Day". Here are some fun ideas on how to celebrate this bizarre festivity!

Casual: Read an article about rocks in history.

Committed: Go for a walk in the park with your friends and try to pick up some cool looking rocks. Once you've gathered enough rocks, try to decide which one is the oldest and categorize them by color and size.

Hard-Core: Throw a party and invite your friends and family. Decorate the room with rocks and buy chocolate rock candy to give at the party.

Waffles Wednesday Way Presents Today's Short Story
Happy in Orange: A Short Story About Carrots

Carrots are believed to be originated in the Middle East, about 5000 years ago. But as shocking as it may be, carrots have not always been orange. It is believed that the first carrots on earth had a purple tint to them, some of them were even yellow. The carrot that we know today did not appear in manuscripts until later on. Carrots were used by ancient civilizations for medicinal purposes, but they also ate it, because they were one of the only sweet vegetables.

The modern carrot started being cultivated by Dutch growers around the 16th century. It is believed that the modern day carrot was a mutation between the first carrots (purple and yellow) by the Dutch growers in order to make them more plump, and sweeter. Because of this, the carrot became much more popular than it had ever been. Thanks to the mutation, it was now a much more delicious vegetable.

The carrot seed is very easy to find, and it grows the best during winter. Many people are able to grow carrots because they are not a very complicated plant. Because of this, there are many delicious recipes including this orange vegetable. Many people consume carrots on a daily basis. But be careful! It is actually possible for your skin to turn orange if you eat too many of them!

Today, try to incorporate a piece of clothing in this shade. You will feel stylish and chill. When someone compliments your color choice, answer them: "Doesn't it look chill?".
